In the past years, several European countries, as well as the EU, have adopted or started to consider legislation that embeds elements of Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (“HREDD”) into law.
Other European institutions, United Nations bodies and other international organisations have also acknowledged the need for binding regulation to promote the implementation of mandatory HREDD and to improve access to justice for victims of corporate-related human rights abuses.
