Sherpa is taking the electronics giant Samsung to court in Bobigny (France) for deceptive marketing practice, based on evidence provided by a China Labour Watch report.
The highly documented report exposes the human rights violations taking place in Chinese and Korean Samsung factories. These include the use of child and forced labour, abusive working hours, employee harassment (including physical violence) and exposure to toxic substances (benzene).
Sherpa is questioning Samsung’s two-faced policy of branding itself an ethical company and doing exactly the opposite behind closed (factory) doors. The organisation alleges that Samsung has deceived its customers through its duplicitous and irresponsible behaviour.
